it’s finally time to wake up
admit you lied throughout your
childhood to protect yourself
and through your twenties stole
your feelings from people around
you exiling yourself to a small
wooded area for your thirties
still unclear what the body’s for
and the child a victim of love
at last entering the adolescence
of your fifties on the street
of the second wife pissing
the lost-found years of your sixties
recovering and not recovering
even unto your seventieth year
finally finally time to wake up
